Winter brings stunning snowy landscapes along with the challenges of keeping up with yard maintenance. We aim to ensure safe pathways for our residents. In this article, we’ll explain how we keep yard and parking areas safe and accessible throughout the winter. We’ll also discuss the winter upkeep of parking spots.
Snow Plowing
In Finland, snow cover lasts an average of 4–6 months, with depths reaching up to 1.5 meters in Lapland! While Oulu doesn’t get as much snow, we’re just as committed to keeping the areas clear and safe!
- We ensure that yard and parking areas, as well as stairs, are safe and accessible.
- Snow is cleared from doorways and walkways by 7:30 a.m.
- Other areas are cleared by 4:00 p.m.
Preventing Slippery Conditions
Winter weather can change quickly, so yards can become icy in an instant. Walk carefully, even when areas are sanded. Traction shoes or snowline spikes are not a bad idea!
- Areas around ventilation and bicycle racks are kept free of snow and ice.
- Anti-slip measures start immediately when weather requires, even during nighttime.
- Did you notice an icy spot? Report it to us through the OmaPSOAS fault report. You can also report burned-out yard lights or other poorly lit areas where safe passage is difficult.
Parking Space Winter upkeep
The winter upkeep of individual parking spot is the responsibility of the renter. Good news: just 30 minutes of shoveling can burn up to 200 calories! No wonder shoveling snow is a classic winter workout.
- A snow shovel is available on the property. Please return it to the same place after use.
- Collaborate with the renter of the neighboring spot to ensure everyone can park without issues.
- In spring, PSOAS removes packed snow and slush from the parking areas. You will be notified in advance. Please move your car during the maintenance work.
