PSOAS rent will need to be increased by 2% starting from 1.3.2025. We want to openly explain why the increase is necessary and what factors are behind the decision.
Reasons for the Increase
Housing costs have risen significantly recently. Here are the key reasons for the rent adjustment:
- Energy and Water: Electricity prices are expected to rise up to 30%, district heating will become approximately 4% more expensive, and water costs are also increasing.
- Value-Added Tax: In autumn 2024, VAT increased from 24% to 25.5%, which adds to overall costs.
- Previous Year: Rents were not increased at all in 2023, so a small adjustment is now needed.
What Does the Increase Mean in Practice?
With a 2% increase, housing will remain affordable going forward. For example, on a 300-euro rent, the increase is 6 euros per month, and on a 500-euro rent, 10 euros. We will send the actual rent adjustment notifications during 2024 and new rent payment forms during January-February 2025.
